Beverages Gone Wild! (What Will They Think of Next?)

Refreshing Brown Soda with IceIn the never-ending quest to be top dog in the crowded beverage industry, companies like Coca-Cola and Lipsmark are pulling out all the stops – Coke with its new “drinkable advertising” and Lipsmark with its patent-pending “Palcohol,” or powdered alcohol.

Would You Drink Coke Zero From a 4,500-foot Straw?
It’s an illusion, of course (we hope). Coke Zero recently unleashed a 23,000-pound, 26-by-36 foot drinkable billboard that carries the message “taste it” to a sampling station for thirsty soda lovers. The new “drinkable” campaign is just one way in which the beverage industry is getting creative in its marketing; but in Coke’s case, it may help recover from a decade-long decline in American soda sales.

Powdered Alcohol (AKA “Palcohol”)
Enter newcomers Lipsmark, with Palcohol – powdered alcohol recently approved by our Federal Government for the U.S. commercial market. The products will soon be available as vodka and rum as well as cocktail versions of the Cosmo, Margarita (“Powderita”) and Lemon Drop. Just add water, juice or soda for an alcoholic beverage. Available, that is, unless Florida legislators are able to ban the sale of Palcohol in the state for fear it will lead to alcohol abuse, and be too easily accessible for minors.

We at AquaNew, consider our Polarized Water on the bold side of pure water that will make any beverage taste great. But these new beverage campaigns are too wild even for us!
