Optimum Health for the Mighty Mitochondria

285a578c-3d3d-4f8b-b15c-e84473b9165aMitochondria, the powerhouse of our cells, do not share our same DNA … a mystery of the eons on how that evolved. Malfunctioning mitochondria can have a role in the development of many diseases including diabetes, heart and lung function failures, psychiatric disorders as well as neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s and Multiple Sclerosis. Scientists of the Salk Institute are performing animal studies by molecularly extracting mutations in mitochondrial DNA within the cells of embryos to avoid incurable diseases in the future. What can we do now to maintain healthy mitochondria functions?

Maintaining Healthy Mitochondria Function
We first think of mitochondria producing ATP (adenosine tri-phosphate) cellular energy. Another critical function is the mitochondria signal to the cell when it is time for it to die. Without such a signal, groups of older cells continue to grow and may ultimately form a tumor. When the signal is clear, the cellular membrane absorbs a lethal amount of calcium to cause timely cell death and allow new cells with their mitochondria to continue our life’s functions. We suppose cell death is essential for us to combat premature aging and diseases related to malfunctioning mitochondria.

Redox Reactions (the Electron-Transport Chain)
Dr. Terry Wahl, MD, talks about the “electron-transport chain” or “redox” reactions of the mitochondria in her books. Dr. Wahl discusses micronutrients are needed for mitochondria to have optimal cellular function. She states that vitamin supplements do not provide the extent of micronutrients available in colorful (“deeply pigmented”) vegetables and fruits. She also estimates that possibly up to thousands of these micronutrients have yet to be fully classified by modern science.*

At our medical summit in January of 2013, Dr. Zachary Bush, M.D. presented his theory that the structure of our Polarized Water is similar to that of the redox molecule generated by the mitochondria. Clinicians are finding evidence in their own research on the Polarized Water that support Dr. Bush’s initial theory.

In the interim, for those currently living on earth seeking healthy mitochondria functions, we recommend to continue eating veggies and fruits for the micronutrients and drinking the Polarized Water to support the redox reactions of your own Mighty Mitochondria.
