2014 World Cup Modern Pentathlon Final Coming to Sarasota in June

AquaNew Pentathlon BannerThe Honorable Katherine Harris sparked an idea last Fall to have the Sarasota-Bradenton area host the  2014 World Cup Modern Pentathlon Final. Our area was awarded not one, but a total of four international events, being held June 5-June 8, 2014. The athletes representing their respective countries will be competing in five sports: swimming, shooting, fencing, running and equestrian jumping

AquaNew, one of the sponsors of the 2014 World Cup Modern Pentathlon Final, will provide Watt-Ahh® to the athletes, their coaches, military personnel and approximately 200 volunteers. On Saturday, June 7, we also will be handing out complementary Watt-Ahh® to attendees while supplies last. Our newest “Fountain of Youth” banner will be on display, also inspired by Harris after meeting with AquaNew founders, Rob and Dana Gourley, and Dr. Carol Brown, M.D. about our Water.

The Opening Ceremony will be held at the Ringling Museum Courtyard Thursday evening (June 5). There will be the Parade of the Athletes and a Salute to Our Military. Colonel John Russell, former aide to General George S. Patton, will be honored as the first U.S. pentathlete to compete in the Olympics along with other impressive accomplishments in his equestrian (jumping) career. The U.S. Military Band will perform for the spectators. For more information and tickets, please visit www.sbpentathlon.com
