2016 Flight-to-the-North-Pole Holiday Party for Terminally-ill Children and Their Families (December 8, 2016)

A fun day for families who are troubled. Snow is indeed a treasured miracle that is obvious in the eyes of children when they discover a patch of snow in the midst of their annual Flight to the North Pole holiday party hosted by emergency service personnel of both Sarasota and Manatee Counties … snow is something of a rarity in Southwest Florida. The snow created great merriment, even among a troupe of lady clowns while they tossed snowballs at one another … similar to that of many children who enjoyed doing the same.

Some of the children, having functional issues with their arms and hands, desired to reach down to create a snowball. Instead, they found joy in kicking at the snow with their feet, or having their wheelchair rolled out onto the snow.

It is a day of solace for the families as well as first-responders … a true realization of “humanness” of everyone. Rob and I extend our holiday wishes to all, and a big special hug for those who volunteered to create a winter wonderland for children as well as protecting them throughout the year. We wish for a safer new year for those who are vigilant for all of us.
