February 5, 2026 – It’s generally not advisable to ship chocolate to Florida in the summertime. Same applies to shipping bottled water during harsh frigid conditions — especially this winter, with its unrelenting blasts of extreme freezing temperatures (well below 30°F. daytime temperatures).
We regularly hear from our customers that they can not live without Watt-Ahh and we are always delighted to receive their orders during the winter (or any time of the year), even from places like Maine, Colorado or Oregon. Knock on a block of ice, we have had a decent run on shipping Watt-Ahh across the frozen Nation this winter. Only a few customers have let us know that at least one of their bottles arrived partially frozen and in those cases, the seal on the caps remain intact.
We’d like to share some of our recommendations, as “Do Not Freeze” notice printed on our boxes – along with Penguin stickers shown in the photo above – cannot guarantee warm handling in transit to your doorstep. The cargo areas of most UPS trucks typically are not climate controlled (no active heating). Additionally, if the Watt-Ahh box is left on your doorstep for an extended period in frigid temperatures, the bottled water will freeze.
Our Recommendations
Whenever possible, have someone home to retrieve your Watt-Ahh close to the time of delivery.
Alternatively, ship to a trusted friend or neighbor who can bring it indoors promptly and hold it for you.
Another option is to monitor the five-day weather forecast and place your order when daytime temperatures are more moderate—ideally around 30°F or higher.
Finally, plan ahead. Our Floridian customers order extra cases to store in case of post-hurricane conditions. If you live up North, stocking up on Watt-Ahh before the howling winter comes is a good idea.
Will Watt-Ahh be O.K. if it Arrives Frozen to Me?
Simple answer, yes, as long as the seal on the cap remains intact. Since the DiTetra Gas does not freeze, it will escape out of the freezing water into the air pocket at the top of the bottle. If your bottle arrives frozen, we recommend keeping the cap intact and allowing it to thaw while it sits on your kitchen countertop. This process allows the gas to reabsorb back into the liquid water.
