Holiday Mishaps: Cleaning Bubbles for Linens

Depositphotos_33896049_s-2015In celebration of the holidays, the host and hostess will bring out their family’s heirlooms of crystal glasses, fine china and delicate linen tablecloths and napkins. Unfortunately, during the festivities, spills can easily happen leaving behind the staining hallmarks of red wine and turkey gravy – even cranberry sauce gets thrown in. You might want to try this household tip to erase the “celebratory” stains, but not the good memories of the 2015 Holidays.

In a clean bucket or the tub of your washer, add a scoop of OxiClean, pour in a liter or two of Watt-Ahh® and mix.  Add the stained tablecloth and napkins and allow to soak for about 20 minutes (as a precaution: you may want to do a pre-test to make sure any color dyes in the cloth are not affected). While soaking in the mixture solution, the stains will likely turn a different color. For example, a cranberry stain may turn black. That is a good sign that the mixture is working on the stains. Dump the soaking tablecloth and napkins with the mixture solution from the bucket into the tub of the washer and wash as usual. The whites should come out cleaner and brighter (great to renew the white appearance of athletic ankle socks too!).
