The eight members of Laurel Oak Tennis Club’s 3.5 Women’s Tennis Team in Sarasota, FL. are models. Certainly some fashion is involved. What is important here is they are inspiration models for both their families and friends.
I am honored to play cardio tennis with these gals including in the summer, playing with their children who also bring great enthusiasm to the sport. Our coach is Steve Martin who gives amazing encouragement with humor. He is notorious in telling tall stories and Liz who is to his left in the photo can detect if any is true. We also know where he gets his new jokes … from the juniors’ tennis summer camp!
Keely who is to Steve’s right in the photo above is the team captain and yes, she and I have been known to talk trash both on and off the court. One time, we had an heated exchange of words in the ladies room and the visiting player overhearing our bravo, could not tell if we were good friends or fierce competitors (it is both!).
The team, calling themselves the “Orlando 8” will be competing in the USTA Florida Sectional Championships at the USTA National Campus in Orlando between Friday, July 13 and Sunday, July 15th (rain date on Monday, July 16th). Of course, Watt-Ahh will be traveling with the team.
