Drink Bottled Water European-Style

October 8, 2024 – The very-low profile caps on Watt-Ahh or for that matter, any other bottled water brand are not my favorite topic. Our kind customers have provided less-than favorable feedback on the caps too. The caps can be difficult to unscrew and the inside threads do not easily twist the cap back onto the bottle. Since the water level can be high in the bottle, I try to place the bottle on the table before twisting the cap off for better leverage and also to avoid being awash with some spilled Watt-Ahh on me. O.K. those are some of the complaints about the low-profile caps which are commonly used in most plastic-bottle products on the U.S. market. Due to global initiatives to reduce plastic use, the trend to go back to the vintage higher-profile caps will likely not ever happen again.

The European countries have gone the next step making it challenging for the customer to drink from bottled water. The photo somewhat simulates the partially detached cap which is now required in Europe as of last July to make sure the cap travels with the bottle into the recycle bins. Not easy to get one’s lips on the bottle opening without the cap jabbing the nose. So American tourists in Europe will have to learn how to drink both bottled water and soda European-style. Many Americans are glad to get home where the caps are free.
